What is leg edema?
Most people think that the lower leg edema is kidney problems, but it is actually not.
Edema can be divided into two types: localized and systemic edema.
Localized edema usually caused by local inflammation on blood vessels and lymphatic obstruction, and is accompanied by swelling and heat pain.
Systemic edema caused by the heart, liver, kidney disease, malnutrition, drug and other unexplained causes.
Blood flow to the limbs is relying on the heart to pump and flow back to the heart indirectly. If the heart has a problem (for example: heart failure), blood will not flow easily from the lower limbs back to the heart, blood will be smoldering in the lower extremities. Patients are usually wheezing or dyspnea while walking, climbing stairs or lying down for a long time.
Varicose veins are likely to affect lower leg edema
Varicose veins appear to have a problem to backflow the blood to the heart.Long-term standing or sedentary workers must be careful about the varicose veins.
There are many reasons to have varicose veins, but the main factor is the slow blood flow rate. If intravenous tube diameter changes, or thrombosis in the intravenous tube, it will have blood circulation problems. Congestion is usually the most likely to occur in the vicinity of the venous valve. Once blocked, it is easy to form the venous aneurysm, also commonly known as gluten tumor.
Relevant occupational populations must take precautions, such as teachers, flight attendants, clerks, waiters, as well as pregnant women or elderly people.
Physical edema
Besides the etiological, nervous women are more prone to physical edema. Lower leg edema of this population is not obvious in the morning, but becoming serious in the afternoon or evening. In the afternoon, the body weight can increase one kilogram than in the morning. They should limit the intake of salt and water, wear elastic decompression socks, regular exercise, and raise up their legs for improvement of the edema.
